Can I recover from addiction?

I think this question is on the mind of ever person who reaches out for help and starts down the road to recovery. This video beautifully describes one woman's determined journey to peace, love, and health, when others had all but given up hope. Addiction is a powerful force, and yet recovery happens every single day. If you need some hope, check this video out and borrow some from Sharon.

I'm celebratin' 16 years in recovery this month so I recorded a short video. May it benefit someone who may be struggling. Don't give up. www.SharonShelton.com

What is it like to be addicted?

I have worked with a lot of people over the years who have struggled with addiction, either their own or someone else's whom they love and care about. The Big Book describes addiction as "cunning, baffling, and powerful" and this description is resounding true. Caught in the grip of addiction, people can say and do things they would never imagine doing when they are healthy, sober, and grounded. Many loved ones have expressed how hurt they have felt by addiction, and their frustration of not understanding WHY someone would continue to use, when it causes so much pain to all those around them. It can feel so personal, and many believe that the addict or alcoholic is intentionally creating the misery that everyone is caught up in.

Let me introduce you to Nuggets, who can tell you the story of addiction, and WHY, without using a single word.
